FIA880 Analyzer: Six-Channel Operation Guide¶
The FIA880 is Migibio's six-channel fluorescence immunoassay analyzer — built for high-volume clinics and laboratories that need to run multiple assays simultaneously.
Key Specifications¶

| Detection method | Fluorescence immunochromatography (FICT), quantitative |
| Channels | Six |
| Throughput | Up to 6 tests / run |
| Sample types | Serum, plasma, whole blood |
| Excitation source | LED |
| Detector | Photodiode / PMT |
| Calibration | Cloud standard-curve sync |
| Result time | 3–15 min (assay-dependent) |
| Output | Concentration + qualitative flag |
| Data management | Result storage, print, export |
| Connectivity | Cloud sync + USB (LIS/export via supported interface) |
Detection Principle¶
The FIA880 quantifies fluorescence from each cartridge using the same FICT principle as the FIA680, but across six independent channels:
- Excitation — each channel's LED illuminates the test line at the fluorophore's excitation wavelength.
- Emission — the bound fluorescent label emits light at a longer wavelength.
- Detection — a photodiode (or PMT, channel-dependent) measures emitted fluorescence intensity.
- Quantification — fluorescence intensity is converted to concentration via the assay's standard curve.
The six channels operate independently, so different assays with different curves can run in the same cycle.
Key Advantage: Mixed Assays¶
The six channels run different assays simultaneously. Example clinical applications:
| Clinical scenario | Assays run in one cycle |
|---|---|
| Dyspnea workup | NT-proBNP + CRP + cardiac panel |
| Pre-anesthetic screen | Renal (SDMA) + liver + inflammatory markers |
| Breeder / fertility | Progesterone + relaxin |
| Infectious panel | CPV + CDV + CCV (+ antibodies) |
Running a panel in one cycle cuts total turnaround time versus sequential single-channel testing.
Operation Workflow¶
- Prepare cartridges for each assay (up to six).
- Apply samples to each cartridge at the indicated volume.
- Load cartridges into the six channels.
- Cloud sync loads the standard curve for each assay automatically.
- Read results — all six reported in the same cycle.
Sample Requirements¶
| Consideration | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Sample type | Serum, plasma, or whole blood (assay-dependent) |
| Hemolysis | Avoid grossly hemolyzed samples — may affect optical readout |
| Lipemia | Avoid grossly lipemic samples for optical assays |
| Bubbles | Remove air bubbles before applying sample |
| Volume | Use the exact volume stated in the IFU |
| Freshness | Test promptly; refer to IFU for stability limits |
Data Management & Connectivity¶
- Cloud sync — standard curves and (where enabled) results sync over the network.
- Result storage — the analyzer retains recent test records.
- Printing — results print for the patient record.
- Export — records export via USB for integration with practice records.
- Traceability — each result links to the assay lot and standard curve used.
When to Choose the FIA880¶
- High-volume clinics and reference-style in-house labs.
- Multi-parameter panels where simultaneous results matter clinically.
- Growing practices that expect test volume to scale.
Maintenance Schedule¶
| Item | Frequency | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| QC cartridge verification | Daily (or per IFU) | Confirm each channel reads the expected control value |
| Optical path / window cleaning | Weekly | Prevent dust from degrading signal |
| Cloud curve sync | Automatic (per assay lot) | Ensure correct curves are loaded |
| Full calibration / service | Per service schedule | Manufacturer service |
Troubleshooting¶
| Symptom | Likely cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| No result (one channel) | Cartridge not fully seated | Re-insert cartridge |
| Error code | Insufficient sample volume | Repeat with a fresh cartridge |
| Drifting results | Dirty optical window | Clean the optical path |
| Failed QC | QC cartridge expired or mishandled | Use a fresh QC cartridge |
| Curve sync error | Network unavailable | Use pre-loaded offline curve (per configuration) |
| High background | Sample interference (hemolysis/lipemia) | Re-collect or clarify sample |
FAQ¶
Can I run six of the same assay at once? Yes — all six channels can run the same assay for batch throughput, or six different assays for panel testing.
Is cloud sync required for operation? Cloud sync streamlines curve updates, but pre-loaded curves remain available offline. See the IFU for your configuration.
How does the FIA880 differ from the FIA680? FIA880 adds six-channel parallelism and cloud curve sync; see Analyzer Technology.
